[London, UK] Rachel Dunscombe, CEO of the NHS Digital Academy and Director of Digital at the Salford Royal Group, will chair the newly-launched HIMSS UK advisory board.

Dunscombe is said to be working closely with Dr Mark Davies, HIMSS UK Chief Medical Officer, to bring together a suite of NHS CIOs and CCIOs that would support the organisation with ‘strategic and clinical oversight’.

“This is a very exciting development for HIMSS UK and I am honoured to have been asked to chair the board, which I will be doing alongside my new role at the NHS Digital Academy,” Dunscombe said today at the Health and Care Innovation Expo today in Manchester.

HIMSS UK, publisher of the British Journal of Healthcare Computing, is a voice, advisor and thought-leader in healthcare IT, creating platforms to support digital transformation in the field.

“Patient centred care in the digital space has gained prominence as a concept over the last few years, but it’s clear that more needs to be done.

“As health organisations and systems successfully adapt and implement technology for the modern age, we must do so with compassionate, patient cantered principles guiding our every move,” Dunscombe added.
